“Daily Escape” Restaurant St. Maarten – Open for Lunch – excellent food, great service.
Driving past Cupecoy and I realised that Escape had opened for lunch so popped in to see what they have to offer. It has been awhile for the restuarant to get up and running again after they were hit so hard during Irma (did any establishment escape the wrath?) They have taken time to change the decor a little and the entire restaurant has been giving a beautiful makeover. It felt so good to step into the cool, restaurant
The interior is stunning (as good as, if not better, than pre Irma.)
I have to admit that I did not take any pictures. These pictures are pre-Irma BUT I really wanted everyone to know that Escape is a wonderful lunch time spot for anyone to drop in, have lunch or collect a take-away. Dinner will be opening soon.
Lunch Menu
The lunch menu is healthy in all choices. Who wants to eat healthy? We all do but eating healthy can be such a drag/time consuming slog unless someone else does the cooking.
The menu for lunch at Escape is one of the kind where you can choose the base, the protein, the sauce, the veg etc. There are also a few suggested combinations made by Escape. I was taken by one suggestion – that of the butternut and chickpea curry served with a basmati quinoa side. I ordered it, with the addition of shrimp, to go but ended up devouring it right in the restaurant.
Fantastic, I tell you. Fantastic curry. All flavour, not too much heat (you can add some hot chutney to raise the heat if you like) Just perfect! The reason I am so excited is because once again the chef has proven to know his food. I say this because just the other evening we ate curry out. Sadly it tasted like a bottle of curry powder in thin soupwater like many a Caribbean type curry (Curry powder is fine to use in some cases – real curries do not comercially bought curry powder instead a number of spices are freshly ground and added to the recipe to bring out the levels of flavour.) The curry at Escape is full-flavoured, smooth and bursting with levels of spice as curries should be.
Just hankering after this fresh, bright-tasting dish for lunch again soon.
I shall be back and will add some photos of all we eat there. I can’t wait!
