The 6th annual eggsnorkle took place on Easter Monday. What a grand event it was.
This fundraising event was well attended – better than ever, in fact – and The Nature Foundation will receive much needed funds.
The egg hunt has changed little over the years except for one big improvement – no actual eggs are used! In the past hundreds of white-shell eggs were boiled and then spray painted. A lot of wastage of the hard boiled eggs took place. The organizers came up with a brilliant reuse plan. Small pebbles, spray painted are turned in to be counted and then kept for following annual egg snorkle hunts.
Bunny-eared organizers scatter the “eggs” in the demarcated area off the Divi Little Resort beach. There is a spot for all stages of snorklers to try their luck. Some go in the “deep-end” while others in the “not-so-deep” section. The littlies try their luck (with parents help) in the very shallows.
Once the “eggs” are collected they are handed in and in return a raffle ticket is given. Raffle tickets can also be bought – all proceeds to the Nature Foundation.
There were so many fantastic prizes to be won. The biggest prize this year was a weekend stay at Divi Little Resort including food vouchers. This was won by someone who has not been able to attend any of the past events. What a fun prize that now enables him to take is wife for a fun weekend get-away!
