Breakfast Stop
Inside Orient Bay village is a resort called Hôtel Esmarelda and inside the resort is a restaurant called L’Astrolabe – it is a lovely place to go for dinner. The other day a friend told me they serve breakfast too so we decided to try it out.
The resort suffered, as the island, did during H Irma but is fast making a comeback. Delightful freestanding units are set in the grounds of the resort, many have a private pool infront of them. One drives into the resort and meanders along the road to the restaurant where there area few reserved parking bays.
The restaurant building itself is different to many others usually found on island in that it is built in a square with the center of the roof left open. Covering the space is an awning with a pitch. This brings in light to the entire area. It is gorgeous.
We sat on the veranda next to the pool and were brought the Continental breakfast of a fruit bowl, bread basket and juice. We could then order an egg dish from the menu. A buffet table was set out from which we could get our coffee, tea or water.
It is a magical place, the setting is so peaceful, the food good – it is not a brunch as the open hours are 7.30 – 10.30.
Two poached eggs, bacon and hashbrowns
and a really good omelette called a “Texas Omelette” with mushrooms and chorizo.
Mmmmmm, we had a lovely early morning breakfast break before heading off to spend the day on the beach.
One can book at the restaurant if not staying at the resort. (here)
