St. Maarten/St. Martin is a melting pot of cultures and as such our cuisine is second to none for its diversity. Because of all the many ethnic peoples who live or have lived on island the supermarkets carry a huge range of food products from foreign lands – how are we going to harness this wealth of tastes that can be found right on our doorstep? By cooking it ourselves of course; (or by getting a personal chef into our home to cook up a storm.)
It is always good to party! If you like cooking, and even if you don’t, themes for parties are fun. With the wealth of foods to be found in our supermarkets, from around the world, it would be great fun to pick a theme where you can provide not just the ambiance, but also the dishes from the chosen region as well.
Travel is expensive, not all of us can “up and off” when we feel like it even if those exotic lands are calling us. For a foodie the next best thing to travel is to bring the land to us on a plate – hold a soiree for two or more than a few and indulge in those flavours.
In this section of this SXMCooks we hope to let you meet some folk who have either lived, or still live, on the island bringing you, not only ideas of themes, but also recipes from their home regions.
