Indigo Beach

Lunch at Indigo proved to be a great experience.

We arrived on the early side as we had not booked and knowing it is once again becoming a popular venue on Sundays we hoped to have a chance to get a table for lunch.

We did get a table but were told that they may want it in an hour – 1 1/2 hours. This was not a problem as we were not looking for a lingering Sunday lunch.

The situation is lovely. A gorgeous beach and lovely views. The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived but filled up very soon afterwards.

Service was quick, perhaps because we were early, perhaps because they wanted the table free but I heard from others that the service is pretty good anyway.

We throughly enjoyed our meal – a starter we shared and then mains for each of us. Just as we finished the rain came down. So we did not have dessert. However it did mean that those on the beach made their way into the restaurant and some diners left, as we did, because there was not enough space to sit at a table undercover – anyway we were going to say farewell quite soon as we promised.

Lunch

The food was delicious! We ordered a calamari plate to share as our starter. The calamari was tender and the sauces were perfect for dipping. The spicy pink sauce was the favourite.

Our mains were risotto and pasta. I have to say the risotto was the winner, hands down. Asparagus with shavings of cheese and proscuitto was possible one of the best risottos I’ve had in years. So flavoursome and crunchy, and quite a large serving.

The other choice was a shrimp pasta. This was sheer comfort food. The sauce was great, the shrimp good (there was no frozen taste to it at all) and the pasta cooked to the right degree of al dente (for us anyways)!

Indigo Beach is definitely a place to go to – may this not be a case of “new brooms sweep clean” as is so often the case.

Pity the rain came down – we could have turned the quick lunch into a
lingering afternoon!

  1. Thanks for the review and pics. Is Indigo Beach Restaurant different than Kokomo’s that was there?

    1. Same venue, different manager/menu etc – let’s hope it does not go down like the last did.

      1. I was going to ask if there were different staff. As you know, we were made to feel quite unwelcome at Kokomo in May.
